About the Job
We are seeking a UI Designer for a multinational retailer.
You will be responsible for,
- Developing and delivering app and web user interfaces across a range of touchpoints in the Basket, Checkout, Payment, Post Order journeys.
- Creating prototypes for web and app to support online research and testing.
- Collaborating with all design disciplines to create and improve user experience and outcomes that are in-line with our design principles.
- Creative problem solving, such as simplifying interfaces for complex products and services.
- Working closely with engineering teams to ensure review of design implementation at key stages of the development cycle.
- Dedicated focus on human centered design to always meet our user needs that serve our customers a little better every day.
- Interaction design research, identifying trends and critically analysing the viability.
- Critiquing in-progress design work, evaluating the priority and effectiveness of solutions. Providing and encouraging feedback from your team and other designers.
- Liaising with technology and understanding the scope of components in existing component libraries, determining fit for purpose and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Ensuring new designs are consistent and leverage existing component libraries.
- Being an advocate for correct use of and contribution to our design system.
- Proactively sharing and communicating design expertise and knowledge with your peers and teams to improve organisational capability.
- Demonstrating strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and subject areas within the organisation.
- Effectively engaging and participating in research activities. Making key decisions based on research and understanding how this research impacts others.
- Reviewing previous designs at project inception, conducting design audits, determining wireframe feasibility, and creating hi-fidelity prototypes.
- Adherence to W3C accessibility guidelines.
Requirements
- Passion for design and technology, with a keen interest in visual arts and digital culture.
- Good awareness of what success looks like with products and processes in the market.
- Self-motivated, organised and pay great attention to detail, with an aptitude to collaborate, share trends and best practices with team members.
- Actively seeks out ways to draw in first-hand customer representation to projects.
- Experience designing through the proactive use of insight, using analytics and design research to test and validate design variants.
- Work experience with other UI designers, UX designers, researchers, UX writers and developers to produce and maintain live products, shown in a strong and varied personal portfolio in digital format.
- Proficiency at designing user interfaces for native app and web, across multiple devices and screen sizes, demonstrated with a strong portfolio.
- Proficiency with the latest versions of Figma, along with good knowledge of the latest multi-channel design and prototyping tools and technologies.
- Experienced working with design systems and brand guidelines.
- Knowledgeable in producing design executions that comply with W3C accessibility guidelines. Knowledge of typography and its use in interactive contexts.
- Experience of working on design projects using agile methodologies.
- Good knowledge of how digital interfaces are developed, knowing how to produce clean deliverables that help maintain good code.
- Experience in producing interactive prototypes to test creative concepts and ideas, ranging from simple click-through prototypes to complex micro-interactions.
- Experience in participating in research sessions, as well as experience in development refinement sessions.
- Previous experience in the retail sector is an advantage.
