MOO is hiringUX/UI Designer
This job post is over 2 months oldand may no longer be available.
MOO set out to shake up the world of print back in 2006. And we’ve come a long way since. Today we’re a 400 + strong team (we’re thinking of getting matching jackets) who create print and digital products for companies of all sizes – from Google and AirBnB to the guy who makes those amazing prints you found at a craft fair.
Our global HQ is in London, UK, while we also have premises in Dagenham. In the US, you’ll find us in Boston, MA, as well as East Providence, RI and Denver, CO.
We’re making new and exciting things – and we could really do with your help.
MOO’s mission is to bring brands to life in a sustainable way. We design remarkable products for our customers. On MOO’s website, customers can browse print and branded merchandise products, customise them and place an order online. MOO then does the magic of manufacturing and shipping a customer’s order.
We’re seeking a UX/UI Designer to join our growing User Experience Design Team to develop our e-commerce platform. We’re at an exciting time in MOO’s product lifecycle where we’re reimagining the end-to-end user experience that will enable MOO to grow faster.
You’ll join two fellow UX/UI designers in MOO’s wider Technology and Product Department. We have 80+ staff across Product Management, Engineering and Agile Management that collaborate cross-functionally to deliver initiatives moving us towards MOO’s vision.
The Role:
The UX/UI Designer will report to our Head of UX/UI, and you’ll be working in a Product Squad. The role is hybrid and based in our London office two days a week.
We plan our work around quarterly OKRs to create alignment between teams, visualise goals and create success metrics. MOO has a healthy product culture of discovery sprints to establish business needs and customer pain points before delivering, testing and iterating solutions.
To champion our thriving design and feedback culture, the team meets regularly to sync on work, including our weekly design crit. And we have a career framework to support your growth as a designer. This is a perfect opportunity to join as we grow our design culture at MOO.
The person we want:
- Have a case study to share that showcases your design process, including both UI and UX. It could be an end-to-end user flow, a new feature or an A/B experiment. In your process, we want to understand how you define problems, explore ideas and produce production-ready UI designs.
- Have previous experience designing end-to-end e-commerce experiences. Working cross-functionally with Product Managers and Engineers, owning the design stream workflow from initial concept to outcome delivery.
- Be able to provide examples of how you’ve used data to make informed decisions; examples can include running surveys, Google Analytics or equivalent tools, or user testing.
- Good skills with design and prototyping software (e.g. Figma, Sketch, InVision, AdobeCC).
- Have created or maintained a Design System or pattern library in Figma, Sketch, Framer, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Can clearly articulate ideas and design rationale, annotate interactions and hand over notes to product managers and developers.
Responsibilities:
- Design with empathy. Practice user-centred focused design. Have the user at the heart of your thinking, and be able to empathise by defining user pain points, establishing design goals and understanding success metrics. Openly challenge assumptions and validate problems with research or data.
- Craft remarkable experiences. Drive delivery of new user experiences. By visualising user problems using journey mapping techniques, ideating user flows, storyboarding wireframes, prototyping experiences, and executing pixel-perfect UI designs to ship experiences.
- Collaborate to ship and learn. Move MOO's user and brand experience forward by collaborating with Product Managers, Engineers and Business Stakeholders. Using storytelling techniques to share ideas, gather feedback and build consensus to ship solutions.
- Be a brand guardian. Maintain our design system, pairing with fellow Designers to iterate our Figma library and Front-end Engineers to develop MOO's website theme. You'll be a force for good using lean UX principles to craft UI components and common patterns.
Our interview process for this role
- Your application: Apply for the role by sharing your CV and a design case study.
- Meet & greet: A 30-minute introduction call over Zoom with a MOO's talent partner to learn more about the company and role.
- Case study review: A 1-hour conversation either over Zoom or in person with our Head of UX/UI Design and a fellow designer, where you'll present an end-to-end piece of work; this is a perfect opportunity for you to ask questions about our design culture.
- Task presentation: We’ll brief you on a technical design task, and you’ll present it to a panel of product folk over a 1-hour conversation.
- Culture contribution: A 1-hour conversation over Zoom or in person with our Head of Design, where you'll discuss MOO's values and how you can actively contribute to growing our culture.
