About the role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on, Principal Visual Designer to drive the Visual Language for an exciting, strategic initiative for one of the growth areas of the business, as well as evolve within our Design System. You are an expert in Visual and UI Design, with deep knowledge of Design Systems, motivated and enjoy working in b2b domains. You will apply visual design principles to craft beautiful interfaces that deliver on usability as well as aesthetics.
This position reports to the Director of User Experience.
What you will be doing
- Defining, leading and delivering on the Visual Design strategy and vision within complex engagements
- Collaborating with UX Architects to transform requirements into engaging interfaces
- Employing visual principles, creativity, attention to detail and our Design System to craft efficient interfaces
- Creating compelling visual stories through data, and optimise comprehension and access to insight, through carefully crafted information design
- Building strong partnerships, advocating for UCD and demonstrating the power and impact of carefully crafted Visual Design across the organisation
- Evolving our Design System from a Visual / UI standpoint, in collaboration with the designers across the product areas
- Working closely with developers to create processes and assets for efficient design-dev collaboration and UI handoff
- Working closely with the Branding and content teams to align and create a coherent experience for the users across touchpoints
- Mentoring, guiding and supporting less experienced members of the team
- Contributing to an inclusive, collaborative, creative and fun team culture
Requirements
What we are looking for
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the field
- Expert knowledge of Visual Design foundational skills of such as typography, colour theory, iconography, Gestalt principles, grid systems
- Strong skills with data visualisation and prototyping with data
- Experience creating / contributing to sophisticated design systems that go beyond styleguides into token structures and efficient design to dev implementations
- Experience with designing with accessibility standards in mind
- Experience in b2b / enterprise space, working on complex and data heavy applications
- Ability to take ownership and initiative while maintaining high collaboration standards
- Proven experience with branding and illustrations would be considered as bonus
- Experience in Agile environments
- Exceptional attention to detail
