Design jobs at Zendrive

Zendrive

Company Description:

Zendrive is a startup committed to improving driving and transportation through data and analytics.

At some point every On Demand startup using drivers for rideshare, carshare, and deliveries runs into the same scaling hassle. As their companies get bigger, they have to deal with building tools and analytics to manage their fleets, which slows them down. That's where Zendrive comes in. We provide plug-and-play solutions to measure and optimize fleet safety and efficiency all from the driver’s smartphone.

Team Description: We're a close-knit, team of designers and researchers, with a highly iterative design process focused on creating safety solutions for drivers.

What you’ll do and what you’ll need:

Cross-platform experience: You have hands-on experience of 4+ years working on both user interface design and user experience aspects of a product across Android, iOS and web platforms.
User-centered approach: You care about the users and your solutions start-off and are centered around problems these users face. You are adept in narrating user problems, use cases and scenarios, draw solutions and communicate it to different sets of people to get their feedback and buy-in.
Designed for both consumers and businesses: You’ve experience designing both consumer facing mobile apps as well as enterprise applications in B2B, B2B2B or B2B2C context.
Shipped products: You have weathered enough product development cycles, know what details matter at what stage and gone through the challenges and troughs & crests in the process, engaging with variety of people e.g. engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders (internal or external) in your career. You’ve shipped products!
Near-impeccable design execution: Your interface and visual design skills are of high standard and contemporary where you have in-depth understanding of OS (Android/iOS) specific design language and patterns, micro-interactions, colors, typography, illustrations/artworks, icons, spacing and other elements of interface design to have nuanced view on why something works or doesn’t work in a given context.
LoFi along with HiFi: While you have craftsmanship in creating elegant and compelling designs, you can also churn ideas/concepts quickly into something tangible e.g. demo/deck, prototype, wireframe.
Know your design tools: You are excellent in using design and design management tools of the present time and design landscape e.g. Sketch, Figma, Abstract, Zeplin, Flinto and so on to create design solutions efficiently and quickly.
Play UX copywriter: You realize that copy and micro-copy on product interface is a crucial ingredient for successful design so you’re able to play UX copywriters role too while designing.
Contribute from start to finish line: You can contribute in all stages of design sprint starting from defining ‘why/what’ to ‘how/when’. You can participate in fleshing out the requirements, designing wireframes and user flows, facilitating feedback-iteration cycles, creating hifi design mockups and package it with specs/assets for a design hands-off to the engineering team. You pay attention to details, have ability to manage feedback/criticism/noise pouring in in a positive way, willing to iterate as many times as needed to get the right thing out.
Think design along with tech: You love technology and recognize the value it creates in improving our lives. You have ability to understand/discuss how something works from a technical standpoint, the constraints it brings along with it, and work your way in figuring out how design and tech integrate well to solve a problem.
Know the business well: Zendrive is a forward-looking and innovative technology for mobile-based driving behaviour analytics which is used in various business contexts e.g. by Insurance companies (like Grupo Sura), big mobile network operators (like Verizon), Auto OEMs (like General Motors) etc. You should be willing to put effort into understanding different offerings of Zendrive and seek opportunities to use design thinking and solutionizing to solve problems of various shapes and flavours.    Know your users: You’ve conducted or been part of user research, usability testing, Information Architecture planning and know how to facilitate and feed them into your design process. You know your ways to extract user knowledge from sales, marketing and other teams.
Collaborative mindset: You resonate with the ‘design-integrated’ (vs ‘design-led’) approach of building products where design is one aspect of a product to make it a success but all other functions need to work equally well in collaboration with each other. In that, you strive to involve and engage with other functions in a meaningful way. You know design is a team sport!
Process & adaptability: You are thoughtful about improving design related processes and work constantly in this direction. As the design team at Zendrive also engages with people working in Zendrive’s US office, you should be willing to participate in meetings early morning or late evening sometimes. Adaptability and ability go hand in hand for you!
