UUsul is hiringSenior UI/UX Engineer
TL;DR: We're looking for a UI/UX design-engineer athlete to work directly with the founders to revolutionize the way defense contractors use software. We have some of the most complex data + complicated user workflows and need someone with experience and a fire under them to help design world class user experiences.
About Usul
Usul is redefining how companies and governments interact around the world. Our AI platform matches companies to government contract opportunities they are most likely to win – these companies make critical defense components from seatbelts, to diving tanks, to loitering munitions. We're backed by top defense investors, growing 60% MoM, and serving the fastest-growing defense companies as customers.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Founding UI/UX Engineer who is fired up about building the product experience to transform how defense companies discover and win contracts. Our legacy competitors are clunky, user-hostile, and illegible—causing massive pain and costing companies millions. You'll help us build the antithesis.
You'll work directly with our CPO and engineers to design and build full-stack web applications. This means flying out to customers, watching their screens intently, and designing and shipping with engineering that same day. You'll define not just how our product looks, but how it works and what experiences we create.
This isn't just shipping features—you're crafting the interface that makes AI accessible to an industry that thinks Excel is cutting-edge. You'll help rethink how defense contractors and governments interact in the modern era.
What You Will Work On
Intuitive interfaces using NextJS and React that are simple and actually make sense to users
Translating User Feedback into product experiences with our CPO that defense contractors will rely upon and want to use daily
Design systems and component libraries that scale across our platform
Full-stack applications from Figma designs to production code, owning the entire pipeline
AI-first workflows that replace manual processes and reduce user effort by 100x. We’re building the cars to the horse carriages.
Who You Are
2-3 years of experience at design-led tech/AI companies like Notion, Stripe, Airbnb, Linear, or similar product-focused organizations
Figma wizard who can create detailed design systems, prototypes, and handoff-ready specifications
Frontend (fullstack is a plus) development skills with NextJS and React
Product thinker with strong user empathy for complex enterprise workflows and data-heavy interfaces
Experienced Shipper who's taken an MVP to v1 with real engineering teams in production deployments with real users
SF-based and excited to work in-person with our team
Bonus Points
Experience designing for enterprise software, data platforms, or AI/ML products
Understanding of government/defense procurement or B2B workflows
Ability to reimagine user experiences through an AI-first lens
Compensation Range: $120K - $200K
