Arbiter is the AI-powered care orchestration system that unites healthcare. Today, healthcare runs on $100B+ in fragmented point solutions that can't see the full picture. We replace them with a single intelligent system that sits on top of EMRs and existing workflows, unifies clinical, policy, and financial data, then automates the actions that close care gaps - starting with site-of-care optimization.

Backed by one of the largest seed rounds in health tech history and operators who bring the expertise and distribution to scale nationally, we're building the connected infrastructure healthcare should have had all along.

Our Engineering & Design Culture & Values

We are a high-performing group of engineers and designers dedicated to delivering innovative, high-quality solutions to our clients and business partners. We believe in:

  • Engineering & Design Excellence: Taking immense pride in our technical and design craft, treating both our processes and products with utmost respect and care.

  • Impact-Driven Development: Firmly committed to engineering and designing high-quality, fault-tolerant, and highly scalable systems that evolve seamlessly with business needs, minimizing disruption and maximizing user value.

  • Collaboration Over Ego: Valuing exceptional work and groundbreaking ideas above all else. We seek talented individuals who are accustomed to working within a fast-paced environment and are driven to ship often to achieve significant impact.

  • Continuous Growth: Fostering an environment of continuous learning, mentorship, and professional development, where you can deepen your expertise and grow your career.

Responsibilities

As a Senior UX Designer, you will be pivotal in shaping the user experience of our intelligent operating system, ensuring it is not only functional but also intuitive, efficient, and delightful for our healthcare users:

  • User Research & Discovery: Lead and conduct comprehensive user research (e.g., interviews, surveys, usability testing, ethnographic studies) with diverse healthcare stakeholders (clinicians, administrators, patients) to deeply understand their needs, pain points, and workflows.

  • User Experience Strategy: Define and articulate user experience strategies, information architecture, user flows, and interaction models that translate complex healthcare processes into simple, intuitive solutions.

  • Design Execution: Create a wide range of design artifacts, including wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes, effectively communicating design concepts and iterating based on feedback.

  • Functional Prototyping: Develop functional prototypes to simulate user interactions and workflows, enabling rigorous testing and validation of design concepts before engineering implementation.

  • Design Systems: Contribute to the evolution and governance of our design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficiency across all products and platforms.

  • Usability Testing & Iteration: Plan and execute usability tests, analyze results, and translate insights into actionable design improvements, fostering a continuous feedback loop.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with product managers, backend engineers, AI engineers, and especially our frontend developers (building in React and Next.js) to ensure design feasibility, successful implementation, and a high-quality user experience.

  • Advocacy & Education: Champion user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and ethical design practices throughout the organization, educating and influencing stakeholders.

  • Technical & Design Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to other designers, contribute to design critiques, and help define the vision for our product's user experience.

  • Hiring & Onboarding: Participate in interviewing and onboarding new team members, helping to grow a world-class design organization.

  • Expert proficiency with leading design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

  • Deep understanding and practical application of user-centered design principles, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design fundamentals.

  • Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and a commitment to inclusive design practices.

  • Extensive experience with various user research methodologies (e.g., qualitative interviews, usability testing, contextual inquiry) and the ability to translate research findings into design solutions.

  • Experience providing critical design feedback, and thinking strategically and analytically to solve complex design problems.

  • Friendly communication skills and ability to work well in a diverse, cross-functional team setting.

  • Demonstrated experience working with many cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, Data Science).

  • Demonstrated experience leading a software product or component's user experience vision and delivery plan.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to create functional prototypes (not just static mockups) using tools like Framer, ProtoPie, InVision Studio, or by leveraging basic web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to demonstrate interactions and workflows.

  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks, particularly React and Next.js, to facilitate seamless collaboration and communication with our engineering team.

  • Experience designing and contributing to robust design systems at scale.

  • Experience designing for AI-powered applications, agentic systems, or complex data visualization.

  • Ability to work with data to inform design decisions and measure design impact.
