DDataStealth is hiringTechnical UX/UI Designer
About DataStealth:
DataStealth is a single, unified data security platform (DSP) that discovers, classifies, and protects sensitive data across your entire environment, from on-premise to legacy cloud to cloud; wherever your data lives or flows, we protect it. We do this without requiring complex integrations or changes to your existing applications, ensuring security that enables, rather than hinders, your business. By seamlessly applying data protection strategies, such as tokenization, we ensure that even if your perimeter is breached, your data remains unusable if it falls into the wrong hands.
Recognized for the fifth consecutive year as a Great Place to Work, we are one of the world’s leading and fastest growing cybersecurity software companies. Our team is the best in the business. Our patented technology provides our large enterprise customers with the ability to solve complex data security problems with a paradigm shifting technology that can actually solve problems.
About You:
You are a senior Product Designer who excels at turning complex, technical systems into clear and intuitive user experiences. You’re comfortable working in highly technical domains—APIs, integrations, data security—and thrive in ambiguity, using systems thinking to design safe, error-resistant workflows.
You collaborate closely with engineers and product managers, think in mental models and edge cases, and deliver precise, scalable designs that users can trust in high-stakes environments.
Role Overview:
As our Technical UX/UI Designer, you will shape the mental models, workflows, and interface design of the DataStealth Platform. Your mission is to transform complex data security and governance challenges (rules, policies, integrations) into clear, safe, and intuitive user experiences. You will be the steward of clarity and control, ensuring users can confidently configure and monitor our platform with zero tolerance for error.
You’ll own both UX architecture and UI execution in Figma, ensuring the platform is not only usable but visually consistent, modern, and scalable.
This role requires someone equally comfortable in:
Technical domains (data security, integrations, APIs, system configuration)
Human-centred design (task flows, usability testing, error prevention)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design in the Face of Ambiguity
Conduct research and discovery to map user journeys, identify pain points, and define the mental models for complex technical tasks.
Partner with product managers and engineers to identify edge cases, dependencies, and failure modes.
Use systems thinking to design workflows that can handle both current and future use cases.
2. Design the Platform User Experience and Interface
Define the Information Architecture and navigation to organize highly complex, configuration-heavy features for discoverability and scale.
Create the end-to-end interface for the product, covering:
Policy creation and editing
Data classification and rules mapping
Integrations with enterprise systems
Monitoring, alerts, and error states
Deliver polished UI designs in Figma, ensuring visual clarity, hierarchy, and consistency.
Ensure users can confidently perform complex tasks with clear feedback, guardrails, and recoverability.
3. Prototype and Validate Complex Scenarios
Build interactive prototypes that show how the Platform workflows operate in practice.
Design and conduct formative and summative usability testing with technical users to validate hypotheses and measure task success, especially in high-risk failure modes.
4. Collaborate Closely with Engineers
Provide detailed design specifications that engineers can implement without ambiguity.
Work through technical constraints, ensuring designs are feasible without sacrificing usability.
Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and testing to ensure design intent carries through to production.
5. Contribute to a Scalable Design System
Govern and Evolve the DataStealth Design System for the platform. Build reusable patterns for configuration-heavy workflows, focusing on accessibility and interaction design principles for complex data inputs.
Extend these into a unified Figma-based UI system with components, styles, and documentation.
Establish standards for how DataStealth products handle complexity, hierarchy, and error states.
Document design rationale and decisions for cross-team alignment.
Qualifications:
5+ years of end-to-end Product Design (UX/UI) experience, with a significant portfolio demonstrating the successful design and launch of complex, configuration-heavy enterprise software or platform tools.
Proven ability to design in highly technical, ambiguous environments.
Mastery in Information Architecture, Interaction Design, and Systems Thinking, specifically applied to large-scale enterprise platforms.
Experience designing interfaces for:
Approval/deployment workflows
Configuration-heavy tools (rules engines, settings, policies)
Monitoring/observability dashboards
Integrations with APIs or external systems
Comfort with technical subject matter: Cybersecurity, APIs, data flows, encryption, cloud architectures.
Hands-on expertise with design/prototyping tools (Figma or similar).
Strong communication skills: ability to explain design decisions to engineers and technical users.
Experience with cybersecurity, data governance, or compliance frameworks (PCI, HIPAA, GDPR) is strongly preferred.
