UX Researcher

ListReports

ListReports is a 5 year old technology company in the real estate space, on a mission to make buying and selling a home a truly delightful experience. We have a million product ideas with a stellar team to execute them but we need more brain power dedicated to prioritizing our roadmap through user research. We care deeply about the community we serve and strive to create products that both “wow” our users and provide tremendous value.

We’re ready for our first full-time UX researcher to help guide our product along this path as we grow. Not only will this person help us understand what our community of users wants and needs through a variety of research methods (both qualitative and quantitative), they will help us determine what to build next and where to focus our energy.

This is not a research position where you’ll live inside user analytics tools (though you will use them and collaborate with our data team). This role is equal parts research planning, UX strategy, and execution. We need someone who can gather and synthesize various types of data holistically - combining analytics, surveys, interviews, and user testing to study the behaviors, motivations, and emotions that drive our users and our industry at large. And, at the end of the day, we really need someone who can translate and present their findings to stakeholders (or the entire company) with confidence.

Our new user researcher will report to our UX Manager, they will partner together to define research goals and hit the ground running, executing focused research sprints (eventually multiple at once). We are a start up, so agility and speed will be critical with 2 week research sprints as the standard. If that intimidates you, we don’t blame you! If not, we’d love to talk to you.

We have recently adopted a “work from anywhere” company culture, which means you have complete freedom to decide where you want to work (at home, at the office, at a coffee shop or traveling the country in a RV with a strong WiFi signal). Therefore, we are open to candidates in any location in the US.

What You’ll Do at ListReports

This role will be the first of its kind at ListReports, which means the road ahead is wide open. You will report directly to our UX Manager, where you’ll find your closest peers in our UX, UI, and Product teams. There is no manual for this position; we are searching for a bright, collaborative person to join us in the work of forging a best-in-class user research department. More specifically, this role will:

  • Coordinate and execute research sprints
  • Execute research on multiple products and end-to-end user experiences
  • Conduct user interviews and usability tests (must be comfortable speaking with users!)
  • Study and synthesize various user data through a holistic research approach
  • Help design and formalize innovative, best-in-class research processes for the team
  • Work collaboratively with our design, product, engineering, data, and leadership teams
  • Present learnings (visual, spoken, and written) in appropriate detail for all audiences

You must be exceptional in the following ways:

Passionate about Product -- You find deep joy in creating products that engage and delight users. For you, it’s not just about the thrill of the research itself but also what we will do with it.

Research Method Knowledge -- You have a confident understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of various research methods and could explain the difference between qualitative and quantitative research (and when to use each or both) without Google.

Detail Oriented -- You obsess over details when they matter. You triple check everything because you know a small mistake (like sending a survey to the wrong users) might greatly impact your results. Also, your keen eye for detail allows you to catch learnings that might not be super obvious from the surface.

Writing, Language, Communication -- You’ve got a way with words, written and spoken. You can prioritize for concision. You coax candid feedback from users and when you present research findings, the general reaction is “this is super helpful!” - not overwhelmed silence.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial person with at least 1 year of experience in a role where research, critical thinking, and synthesis were key duties. We are open to recent intensive boot camp graduates with a Product, UX, or User Research focus. Additionally, if you have previous start up experience or can showcase an ability to pivot on projects without ego, we’d love to talk to you.

Equal Opportunity Employer: ListReports is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
