Design jobs at Skyryse

Skyryse

About Skyryse:

Greater Los Angeles Area, CA

Skyryse wants to allow anyone, to fly anywhere, in any aircraft, safely and as a highly experienced pilot would. Powered by the Skyryse operating system, we automate flight controls and management to achieve unmatched safety and eliminate opportunities for human error in all flight stages, and in emergency situations. We want to make flying as ubiquitous as the road and as safe as the elevator.

Why this role is mission critical:

As a UI/UX Designer, you are responsible for taking high-level concepts for in-flight experiences, then bringing them to life through the design process. From user flows, to wireframes, to high fidelity, flyable prototypes - you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to develop the next generation of human machine interfaces that Skyryse will offer as part of its FlightOS system. You are a full stack designer that’s tool agnostic and can flex from in-vehicle, to motion, to app, to web design. Your work will conform to strict standards for human factors and flight safety, while also offering an entirely new vision for a pilot interface. Your work will redefine the experience of flight, making it simpler and more accessible for the next generation of aviators.

Key Objectives:

  • Develop the prototype UI/UX for a multi-screen aircraft cockpit
  • Design interfaces and interactions that reduce pilot workload, keeps the pilot informed in the air, and makes the experience of using flying with our system delightful
  • Steward the growth of the design system as components are added, tested, and used across a variety of platforms
  • Conduct primary user research to validate product concepts and create tactical design constraints that comply with high level safety requirements

Position Requirements:

    • Portfolio required for application
    • 5+ years of experience designing user interfaces, preferably in vehicles or transportation-related industries
    • Great communication skills and a history of interdisciplinary teamwork, design leadership, and collaboration with c-suite decision makers
    • Familiarity with design paradigms for responsive, motion, mobile, and in-vehicle UI/UX
    • Expertise with visual design tools like Figma/Sketch, Adobe Suite, and interactive prototyping tools like InVision, Principle, Framer, and the like
    • Experience working within a living design system, componentizing design assets, maintaining a style guide, and manipulating class-based designs
  • Strong body of work that demonstrates expertise with visual design, human-centered product design, experience launching products, and articulate storytelling

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in HMI design within Aviation, Aerospace, Automotive, or automated/autonomous systems
  • Expertise with animations (CSS, After Effects, Cinema4D, and above-mentioned prototyping tools)
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative UX research, experience conducting field studies and usability testing
  • Industrial design skills, ability to CAD and work in 3D (Blender, Fusion360, Shapr3d)
  • Mastery of modern web design principles, familiarity with no-code toolkits (Webflow)
  • Understanding of agile environment software implementation
  • Code literacy, particularly in C# and Unity

We also have great benefits:

  • Flexible vacation
  • Competitive salary
  • Valuable stock option plan
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • A company with a huge vision, a dynamic work environment, and a team of smart, ambitious and fun to work-with colleagues determined to change the world
