We're looking for an outstanding Lead UX Designer to join our growing team

Role: Lead UX Designer

Reporting to: Design Director

Location: London Offices (blended working, minimum 2 days in studio)


As a Lead UX Designer you will:

  • Work with our Design Director, driving innovative and inspiring design solutions for digital experiences across multiple platforms including back end systems, HMI and apps
  • Design for blue chip brands across automotive, manufacturing, retail and health sectors. This is an agency-side role so you'll join a cross-functional team of UX/UI, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers partnering with client-side peers, supporting their goals and driving groundbreaking work built on exceptional design quality
  • Move from insights to ideas, discovery to definition, design to delivery, you'll take a human-centred user-led approach to product and service design. You'll think conceptually to innovate new and existing solutions around user needs
  • Take the lead on defining information architecture, performing task analysis and validating design through in-person and online usability testing. Experience facilitating user labs and actioning findings into designs is expected
  • Prepare research and testing, create personas, map end-to-end journeys, develop service blueprints, for complex products and services. You'll be leading workshops and design sprints to inject design thinking to produce rapid, iterative results
  • Using user-centred frameworks and techniques to guide how services and products are created including Value Proposition Design and Business Model Canvases, Lean UX Canvases and Jobs-To-Be-Done
  • Effectively communicate concepts and detailed designs is crucial. So you'll bring strong storytelling, visual storyboarding and prototyping skills, as well as rapid wireframing and journey mapping techniques to effectively convey compelling product ideas. UX writing and written communication skills are essential

Responsibilities:

  • Design user-led experiences for a range of interfaces, platforms and applications through:
    • user research and discovery
    • market and competitor landscape analysis
    • low-fi and hi-fi wireframing, concepting and prototyping
    • developing user-centred frameworks and techniques
    • UX writing and communication
  • Plan and facilitate workshops and user research labs with clients
  • Connect and translate client briefs into effective user experiences, sharing new research, industry trends and insights with team members
  • Mentoring UX/UI designers with timely direction, support and honest feedback
  • Collaborate on design planning with other members of the design team, Tech Leads and cross-disciplinary teams, to create functional, emotive and highly usable digital product experiences
  • Stay current and share best practices in user-centred design and interaction design trends
  • Advocate for the user, to internal and external clients, at all points in the design process

Requirements

  • You'll have 8+ years relevant industry experience defining and delivering applications, experiences, websites, products and services that balance user needs, business objectives and technological constraints
  • You'll bring a first-class design mind, able to effectively articulate, collaborate, design and deliver complex UX briefs
  • You'll have proven ability as a solid hands-on UXer demonstrated through a standout portfolio of diverse design thinking work across a range of leading clients
  • You'll have expertise conducting user research through interviews, analysis, surveys, usability testing with a structured approach to research and insight generation
  • Excellent applied skills in sketching, wireframing, rapid prototyping, information architecting, journey mapping and a broad knowledge of Figma/Axure or other relevant tools
  • You'll be confident engaging with people at all levels, taking the initiative, with strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills
  • You'll be self-organised and structured with strong focus and attention to detail, able to deliver, adapt and succeed in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment
