We’re looking for a Principal Product Designer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Product Design and an existing team of high-performing UX designers & researchers to create new experiences that help scientists accelerate their research.
As a Principal UX Designer, you will champion design thinking at BenchSci and put it into practice while bringing new ideas from concept to launch. You are an expert at gathering and understanding business & user requirements, creating information architecture diagrams and user journeys and when needed building high & low fidelity prototypes.
You will
- Transform complex ideas, business opportunities, research and creative vision into tangible products that provide desirable outcomes and add disproportionate value for users.
- Lead and establish best practices and design thinking workshops/processes - driving futuristic digital experiences.
- Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and engineers, to influence product direction, and design solutions that meet the business, technical, and user needs.
- Use strong communication skills to present, articulate, and explain design recommendations and decisions within cross-functional teams and to stakeholders.
- Lead designers through all phases of product development, ship, and iterate.
- Utilize qualitative and quantitative data and customer feedback in your design process.
- Work autonomously to achieve our outcomes and manage your timelines.
- Be a passionate advocate for the user, grounding ideas in data-driven solutions by partnering with our User Experience Research team to incorporate customer insights and principles throughout the creative process.
You have
- 8+ years of end-to-end design experience in transforming technically complex products into intuitive user experiences.
- A proven record of providing thought leadership, bringing industry trends and positively leading change to mature the design practice.
- Background or educational equivalent in usability, human factors, digital design, and/or engineering, with digital emphasis.
- Prior experience developing a digital experience strategy and vision, including journey mapping, leading change and collaborating with a variety of business, technology and creative partners.
- Superior communication skills and a proven track record of building and developing relationships with senior leadership as well as technology and business teams.
- A proven track record in senior design positions, working across all stages of product development from early-stage discovery to implementation.
- A background in life sciences (strong asset).
- Experience in visualizing complex data (strong asset).
