Our digital creative team champion user centric research and insights, architect standout digital experiences and optimise user interfaces. They help our clients create B2B websites, as well as digital tools and delivering on-going site enhancements.

As our new Head of UX, You’ll be joining the team at an exciting stage as we build the next evolution of our service, which is widening and as a result we need solid UX practitioners to help drive the right thinking and the right culture.

The Head of UX will get to work directly with the Head of Digital, to manage the UX team and be the spokesperson for RY’s user experience offering. You’ll plan, manage and carry out all UX and User Research activities and be able to provide in depth consultancy to our clients.

Responsibilities include

  • Provide high value User Experience and User Research consultancy to our clients.
  • Plan, manage and carry out all UX, Information Architecture and User research activities.
  • Deliver sitemaps, wireframes, user journeys and prototypes and setting the benchmark with all UX documentation for the rest of the team to follow.
  • Drive collaboration between UX, design, strategy, technology, and project management internal teams.
  • Plan and prioritise all digital discipline sales activities, including pitches and presentations to clients.
  • Work directly with the wider integrated RY team to use, manage, update, and maintain UX knowledge and approach to best practice UX communication.
  • Be a good manager and be able to grow the team organically whilst maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Maintain and develop new clients in partnership with other teams, using best practice UX methods.
  • Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information.
  • Spot efficiencies and areas of benefit between digital channels and be able to consult on an ecosystem level.

Requirements

  • Strong online portfolio available for viewing.
  • Significant depth of experience in service design or user experience based roles.
  • Hands-on experience with a range of UX and interactive work.
  • Strong knowledge of the full cycle of design process: research & analysis conceptual thinking UX/UI validation.
  • Kind and likable, informed and persuasive, you will align, convert and improve digital experiences one product at a time.
  • Sets example for resilience in the face of challenge.
  • Excellent Design Thinking and experience in agile design methodology.
  • Clearly articulates ideas/solutions/updates in client and team meetings with confidence and gravitas.
  • Ability to take a project management approach to managing multiple projects and working under pressure.
  • Advocates for and supports discovery activities like user research and stakeholder workshops.
  • Holds an audience, enlightens, and is persuasive.
  • An excellent verbal and written communicator, being able to present and explain research, designs and key milestones deliverables to peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Able to inspire clients to challenge their own thinking.
  • Comfortable working on simultaneous projects for a variety of clients.
  • Understands that the best ideas can come from anywhere or anyone.
