UX Designer

DarkMatter is developing a suite of communication applications covering encrypted voice, instant messaging, email and other in-transit data. 

The Role

You will be part of DM User Experience Design team to build new generation phone user interface and applications for Desktop, Web and Mobile devices. Shift the paradigm to create applications that optimize the connection of users, data and software in ways that reflect expectations of direct manipulation, real time feedback and simple yet powerful visualizations. Work closely with other designers, product managers, program managers, developers, quality engineers, and many more groups to turn your ideas into products.

In this role, you will:

• Create the vision for developing, communicating, and implementing the user experience and associated UI framework and assets on a range of enterprise and consumer information applications
• Work closely with software engineering team as well as key customer stakeholders to follow through with the processes and tactics to implement the vision
• Quickly turn concepts into wireframes and flow diagrams. Present them on the target devices to closely simulate the user experience.
• Improve your designs with feedback from other designers, engineers and management.
• Help others by providing constructive feedback on their own design specifications and implementations.
• Follow through with engineers as your feature gets built to the highest standards.
• Create, lead and analyze usability studies to improve your design with direct user observation and feedback.
• Work strategically with other executives and team members across the organization
• Partner with others in the broader design community to develop and extend the experience across the array of offerings

To bring your dream to life, you’ll need:

Required Skills:

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, graphic designer, art/creative director or similar role.
• An informed set of core values regarding user experience, user research, usability, technology, and business communication and the ability to present them with eloquence and concision.
• An online portfolio that demonstrates your ability to turn ideas into a strong and unique creative vision. An online portfolio or work samples demonstrating a range of artifacts developed in creating a variety of compelling user-centered design solutions.
• Demonstrated fluency in best practices for web-based and mobile information architecture and responsive design, as well as deep and broad knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
• Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in digital design, graphic design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven ability in a variety of design tools such as Adobe design suite and Sketch.
• Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from product management, engineering, and marketing

 Desired Skills:

• Experience in designing localization friendly UI for Arabic users
• Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating beautiful and user-friendly web applications, mobile apps, business and consumer-facing features.
• Experience working with agile development teams (agile/scrum).
• Web-based or mobile application visual design in a global context.
• Fluent in English with a proven track record of presenting to and influencing senior management.
