Senior Product Designer

MOZ Group

Description

Senior Product Designer

Moz’s UX team is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help create amazing user experiences for our suite of products, and to solve hard, yet exciting, customer problems. You will work closely with our Product and UX team to influence high-level requirements, then turn those into interactive flows and beautiful, intuitive, functional designs. As you gain knowledge of the product and industry, you will pitch new ideas and turn new, complex problems into engaging experiences with a focus on usability, performance and accessibility.

When you aren’t actively working on a project, you are proactively improving processes within the company to make your work more efficient for the next project, or working to gain a deeper understanding of our customers, which will fuel your future decisions.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for Senior Product Designers that will

  • Design data-heavy digital products and services that balance customer needs, business objectives, accessibility, and technological constraints
  • Own the design process for their projects from start to finish - including journey mapping, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing - all the way to the final hand-off to developers, and to owning and measuring the success of their work
  • Create their own projects plans, including goals and timelines
  • Contribute to our established pattern library in a scalable and easy to understand way (Bonus if you’ve owned creating a design system)
  • Perform necessary research tasks to push their designs forward
  • Work with the dev team to ensure designs are implemented accurately and provide quality assurance on their designs, once implemented.
  • Effectively pitch and articulate the data and thinking behind their work to their team and stakeholders
  • Know when to use established patterns and processes, and when to break them, and can properly make and evaluate tradeoffs, weighing the pros and cons for all decisions, large and small.
  • Collaborate with others on the team by sharing best practices, ideation techniques, and usability principles, and provide leadership and mentorship to others on the team.
  • Embrace their curiosity and feel comfortable challenging requirements, and wants to know the “why” behind everything
  • Embrace our core values: Transparent, Accountable, Generous, Fun, Empathetic, and Exceptional.

Requirements

  • Experience designing for digital products in a senior position
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates your senior design skills and process, including wireframes, prototyping, research and data-collection methods used, goals, and outcomes.
  • Has contributed to a pattern library before
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design and prototyping tools (we work in Figma)
  • Experience designing for large sets of displayed data, including data visualizations
  • A proven process for communicating your designs, strategy and decisions to stakeholders and to the development team
  • Experience with standard research methods like usability testing, interviews, and data analysis, and want to improve those skills (Bonus points if you know what an URQBS is)

Nice to have

  • Understanding and experience with SEO
  • You have worked on marketing analytics software
  • You can perform basic quantitative data analysis in tools like Pendo (or something similar), or you are eager to learn how
  • Passionate about research or improving your research skills
  • You have experience in consumer or B2B SaaS and understand the mechanics and economics of a SaaS business
  • Formal education or certification in UX/Product Design/Interaction Design
