Kwalee is a games publisher and developer based in Leamington Spa, UK, which boasts more than 1 billion installs on mobile platforms with games such as Teacher Simulator, Draw it, Bake It, Shootout 3D, Rocket Sky! and Line Up: Draw the Criminal. The company also publishes a growing catalogue of PC and console titles including Eternal Hope, Tens, Scathe, and Wildmender along with the upcoming titles ROBOBEAT, Space Chef, The Precinct and The Spirit of the Samurai.

Founded by games industry icon and Codemasters co-founder David Darling CBE, who is joined by a fast-growing team of global gaming experts with studios in the UK, India, Portugal and China and remote team members all over the world, Kwalee is on the lookout for high-quality games to publish on all platforms and encourages developers to get in touch.

Are You Up To The Challenge?

We’re looking for a talented UI/UX designer to take the lead on Kwalee’s web design. Leading a team of designers in the development of web applications which support the whole company. 

Your Team Mates

Our UI/UX team is an integral part of the Data & Engineering team. We develop a Marketing Platform to give our Growth Team an advantage, a LiveOps Platform for managing and optimising our games and our Publishing Platform to give our partner developers insights into their games. All of these projects are dependent on fluid and powerful user interfaces and experiences.

What Does The Job Actually Involve?

  • Translate concepts into wireframes/mockups, storyboards, sitemaps and screen flows that lead to intuitive user experiences

  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions

  • Make strategic design and UX decisions related to core existing and new functions and features

  • Take user-centred design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs

  • Produce layouts, user interface elements, design specifications and documentation

  • Work in constant collaboration with product managers and engineers to crystalize customer problems and define designs with better UX

  • Evaluate existing application user interface design and propose usability improvements

  • Demonstrate a strategic perspective by overseeing design efforts to create reusable components that enhance development efficiency

  • Continually incorporate the latest initiatives in user experience and design principles into your work

  • Lead a 4-6 person team of UX experts

Your Hard Skills

  • Solid 3+ years experience in complex web applications UI/UX design and implementation 

  • Expert in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD and/or Sketch

  • Good knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS3, jQuery, JavaScript, responsive frameworks like Foundation, Bootstrap and SDLC is extremely desirable

  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles and best practices.

  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environment.

  • A strong leader, able to manage a 4-6 person team of UX experts
