Who We Are

We are Friends From The City. We pride ourselves on our forward-thinking approach to design and technology, creating user-focused solutions that are both accessible and impactful. We're fully remote and headquartered in the vibrant heart of New York City. We provide support to government agencies, empowering them to better serve the people with modern products and services.

Our mission is to make interactions with the government easy for all people. We create digital experiences for federal agencies that are user-centered, inclusive, and accessible. Picture this: A loved one is trying to access information on a government website, but they experience frustrating navigational challenges. A relative seeking citizenship needs help understanding the application process because of a language barrier. At Friends From The City, we work to eliminate obstacles like these.

Our approach to human-centered design and software development is pretty straightforward. We apply user research to the design and development of functional platforms using clean code and intuitive design, and then we make those platforms accessible to everyone.

About the Role

Our team at the CMS Enterprise Architecture and Data Group (EADG) is like an orchestra conductor, bringing together different parts of CMS's data systems to create a harmonious whole. By merging and modernizing these systems, we make it easier for CMS to manage information effectively. This means smoother operations, better organization, and a more user-friendly experience for everyone involved.

We're seeking a UX/UI Designer to join our human-centered design (HCD) team. The HCD team is dedicated to merging and revitalizing the CMS Enterprise Data Archival and Reporting (CEDAR) with the Knowledge Management Platform (KMP), creating a unified knowledge management ecosystem. As a member of the human-centered design team, your focus will be on elevating the user experience through automation, refining processes, and crafting intuitive interface designs. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact, we'd love to have you on board!
