We are looking for an exceptional UI/UX Designer who has a passion for nurturing every child to become an everyday hero who drives positive change for himself / herself, others and the world, is concerned about animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and sustainability. As one of the first few hires on the venture, you will shape the product to speak to the voice of the customer with your creative design expertise.
In this role you will do:
Design Strategy and Planning
- Drive Product Design outcomes and set direction across teams; driving complex, strategic initiatives.
- Champion user-centered design principles and advocate for the importance of design within the organisation.
- Define and execute a comprehensive design strategy and design sprint goals that aligns with business goals and customer needs.
- Communicate the product’s vision, based on testing and design principles, to team members, external stakeholders and consumers
Product Design
- Create and execute low-to-high fidelity mockups, familiar with design systems, based on regional/contextual user behaviours, and working to shape the experience of the entire product and feature set.
- Produce visual design that elevates the quality, consistency, and credibility of user experiences in line with brand.
- Ensure consistency in design elements and maintain a cohesive visual identity for the product.
- Establish and maintain a design system and style guide to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Promote accessibility, system thinking and usability best practices in all design work.
User Research, Usability Testing and Iteration
- Lead stakeholder sessions, ethnographic research and design thinking workshops and translate key insights into concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, system maps, user flows, wireframes, visual design comps and prototypes.
- Identify key pain points and design simple solutions to particularly complex problems; knitting together multiple ‘features’ in one experience.
- Ability to plan, facilitate and synthesise usability testing towards actionable design deliverables for build
- Iterate designs based on user feedback and insights to continuously improve the product.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to represent the design team and facilitate design discussions
- Work closely with Engineering to ensure a high-quality implementation, solve for any technical constraints and business objectives whilst aligned to design goals.
- Work closely with the Product Management team to plan and execute product design strategy.
- Work closely with Marketing and Growth to create assets for social media campaigns.
- Confidently communicate design decisions and solutions to key stakeholders that solve for user needs and can benefit business objectives
- Lead and mentor other junior designers in the craft and processes of design.
You should have:
- 5+ years of experience designing stellar B2C products end-to-end, preferably fullstack web or hybrid apps
- Experience working in a combination of early-stage ventures, digital product build and corporate environments
- Experience designing and delivering end to end UI and UX using tried and tested processes.
- Strong experience to Agile delivery approach and related tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent fundamentals in design thinking, interaction design and visual design
- Experience coaching and mentoring others in Product Design.
- Solid experience with wire-framing and prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions with portfolio demonstrating design process, shipped work and impact.
- Solid experience using Human Centred Design techniques to understand user behaviour and expectations
- Expertise in Figma, Miro, Notion, Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and other design tooling.
Additional desired competencies:
- Experience in Branding, Service Design, User Research and Project Management.
- Experience in designing experiences for physical events and campaigns and worked with third-party vendors, contractors, clients and suppliers.
- Experience in EdTech, Sustainability, AR Design, Game Design, Conservation or related fields
- Basic knowledge of 2D/3D design and animation is desired.
