Mission Context:
Our client's operational framework involves two significant transmission system operators in Europe: one in Belgium and another in Germany. These operators act as essential links in the European electricity system, managing an 18,600 km grid connected to 30 million end-users. They facilitate electricity trade and ensure the reliable transportation of electricity from producers to consumers.
The evolving energy market, characterized by electrification, demands advanced digital solutions. Our client anticipates this transition and is investing in digital technologies, focusing on user experience to ensure safety and efficiency in infrastructure maintenance processes.
Position Description:
NOVA, the design system of our client, provides an array of tools, components, and guidelines that enhance workflows for designers and developers. As a Senior Design System Designer, you will maintain and evolve NOVA, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across Belgium and Germany. Your contributions will ensure that digital products are user-friendly, cohesive, and aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the continued development of NOVA’s design language to support diverse products across varying platforms and technologies.
- Collaborate with developers, UX Researchers, UI Designers, and stakeholders to create and evolve UI components and documentation.
- Provide clear documentation and usage guidelines for effective use of design components.
- Review components to ensure alignment with UI standards and accessibility benchmarks.
- Promote and facilitate the adoption of NOVA across teams, assisting in the transition to updated design systems.
- Advocate for accessibility best practices, ensuring inclusivity in the design process.
- Support additional Product Teams with UI Design tasks as needed.
Requirements:
What you bring:
- 7+ years of experience in UI or Interaction Design, with a history of contributing to or leading design system development.
- Expertise in creating component libraries in Figma, with a solid grasp of product ecosystems and design tokens.
- Ability to navigate technical complexities and collaborate productively with engineers.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing design projects, problem-solving skills, and design methodology. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
- Experience in front-end development is a plus.
- Familiarity with accessibility guidelines is beneficial.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
Soft Skills:
- Organized, transparent, and capable of managing multiple projects effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex challenges.
- Action-oriented with a collaborative spirit and a respectful approach to challenges.
- Exceptional verbal communication and presentation abilities combined with user empathy.
- Self-sufficient and resilient, with a passion for Information Technologies.
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of German, French, or Dutch is advantageous.
Additional Information:
Location: Primarily based in the Brussels area, with occasional travel to sites in Belgium and Berlin (remote work possible 2-3 days per week).
Timing: Immediate start is desired.
Important: Non-EU candidates must present valid work and residence permits for Belgium.
