GLOSSARY

End User

UX Design

What is an End User

An End User is the actual person who ultimately uses a product or service. They are the final consumer of the product, as opposed to stakeholders, buyers, or administrators who may be involved in the purchase decision but don't directly use the product.

Types of End Users

Common categories include:

  • Primary Users: Regular, direct users of the product
  • Secondary Users: Occasional or indirect users
  • Tertiary Users: Those affected by the product's use

Why are End Users important

Understanding end users is crucial because they determine the product's success. Their needs, preferences, and behaviors should drive design decisions, feature prioritization, and interface choices to ensure the product delivers genuine value.

How to consider End Users

Design for end users by conducting thorough user research, creating detailed personas, mapping user journeys, and regularly testing with representative users. Consider their goals, context, technical proficiency, and potential limitations.
